ABOUT THE GROUP

Formed by the musicians Nelson Ayres, Rodolfo Stroeter, Paulo Bellinati, Teco Cardoso and Ricardo Mosca, Pau Brasil is one of the most outstanding groups of instrumental and contemporary music in Brazil, producing creative albums starting from the late 70’s.

With an extremely successful national and international career established since 1980, Pau Brasil developed a distinct musical identity by the conscious incorporation of all traditional Brazilian rhythms, wandering between the primitive and contemporary.

The ability of improvisation of its members, in addition to have significantly contributed to the promotion of Brazil’s international relations, formally recognizes Pau Brasil as one of Brazil’s highest permanent references of Brazilian music. No other group has enjoyed such unanimous approbation over such a long period from both public and critics alike; indeed, many commentators have suggested that Pau Brasil is probably the most important influence of instrumental Brazilian music.
