Three distinctive contexts of Brazilian Music represented by the instrumental quintet Pau Brasil, the string quartet Ensemble SP and the singer Renato Braz teamed up to reread and to rediscover, in an unusual performance, the compositions of the most important icon of our culture: Heitor Villa-Lobos.
In the concert, Villa-Lobos is reinterpreted in such a way that the audience can penetrate his musical universe, masterfully delivering the listener to the rhythms rooted among popular and folkloric Brazilian music.
Thus, most of the compositions are not presented in their original version, the musical arrangements allow the performers illustrious improvisations, however the concert embraces gracefully the composer’s melodic ideas.
The highlights of the concert are the Prelude and Aria of Brazilian Bachianas Nº 4, the Prelude Nº 3 for guitar, Choro Típico, O Trenzinho do Caipira and a selection of songs such as Modinha, Cair da Tarde, Lundu da Marquesa de Santos and Melodia Sentimental.
The spirit of the music of Brazil in each note or melody featured in the concert Villa-Lobos Superstar fully evokes the nature of the rich instrumentation promoted by the unusual meeting of talents. In addition, Villa-Lobos Superstar brings new ground in musical concepts and creative energy to today, showing all that was discovered and developed by our greatest composer and sparking profound impact on all of Brazilian music shades.
